Birdwings offers a distinctive approach to working with children:
Grounded in nature connection, meaningful relationships, adventurous play,
and a firm belief in children's capabilities.

Nature is not simply the setting for our work. At Birdwings, we don't just 'play outside'! Our relationships with the natural world shape how we understand children, play, learning and our role as Nature Mentors.
We create opportunities for children to explore, take on meaningful challenges, develop their capabilities and build relationships with each other and the places they spend time in.
This approach requires thoughtful professional practice. We pay attention, make considered decisions about risk, respond to individual children and reflect on the choices we make as practitioners.

We're interested in hearing from experienced and qualified early childhood professionals who are curious about nature-based practice and willing to examine established assumptions about children and learning. We particularly value people who bring initiative, sound judgement, reliability and a collaborative approach.
Experience in leadership roles is an advantage, as is experience working outdoors or a demonstrated personal connection with nature, exploration and adventure. You don't need to arrive already trained in nature mentoring. We provide practical, on-the-job training and mentoring in the Birdwings approach.
Applicants must have an early childhood qualification, first aid certificate, child protection certificate and Blue Card.
