Little Birdwings is a fully outdoor, mobile early childhood nature immersion program in the Gold Coast Hinterland for children aged 18 months to 5 years. This is not a traditional early learning setting with occasional time outside. Nature is the classroom, every day.
We are the first award-winning, full day nature-based kindy on the Gold Coast. Our work in nature playwork is grounded in current Australian research in early childhood nature-based learning. With us, children spend their whole days immersed in beautiful natural environments where they play, explore, create, climb, imagine, rest and grow at their own pace.
Children can take time OUT from busy schedules and time IN to discover, adventure, day dream and learn about their amazing capabilities in nature.
High-Quality Early Childhood Practice in Nature
We combine quality early childhood education with leading nature pedagogy and therapeutic nature immersion practices. Children are supported by experienced early childhood qualified Nature Mentors within small mixed-age groups and high educator-to-child ratios.
Our LEAF Approach
Our unique LEAF Approach (Living-Ecology-Agency-Flow) guides how we observe, support and respond to children’s development, capabilities and relationships within nature-based environments. This framework ensures children are nurtured with intention, attentiveness and deep respect for individual growth.
Childhood, As It Should Be
The rhythm of our days is gentle, predictable and unhurried, allowing children time to build confidence, resilience and belonging through meaningful experiences in nature.
